EDUCATIONAL THERAPY

At the Reading and Writing Institute each student receives their own individualized therapy plan which based on the results of the diagnostic assessment.  The client will follow this continually monitored plan throughout his/her therapy.

When a client enrolls in the clinic, he or she attends one two-hour block of therapy per week.  This therapy is then reinforced at home in half hour “Home Therapy” sessions approximately four times per week.  This Home Therapy allows the client to practice learned skills at home and drive literacy forward.  Virtually all of the home therapy is web based and is simple, straightforward and should not be confused with teaching or homework.

Periodic re-evaluations are provided as part of therapy at no additional charge; this is a critical component in managing the therapy process and ensures that he or she is working toward literacy efficiently and effectively.

Procedures used with clients follow a total sensory approach with manipulatives, concrete objects, and specially designed computer therapy programs.  Clients are given a limited number of independent activities interspersed with direct therapy and hands-on instruction from the trained therapist during the therapy hours.
